Rocky is a lively, very small, Sheltie who is 10 years old with a very BIG personality.  Rocky is very smart, very well house-trained and LOVES, LOVES to cuddle and LOVES LOVES to play with toys especially balls.  Rocky is fairly quiet for a Sheltie but if you talk to him he will be very happy to talk right back to you.  He has a very waggy tail because despite the abuse he suffered he is a happy and loving senior Sheltie.

Rocky was rescued by family members from what we were told was a very abusive, filthy, home that had no running water.  We were told that Rocky was covered in cat feces all the way down to his skin.  His coat was matted to the exreme.  His skin was in poor condition.  The best approach was to shave his hair all the way down to his skin.  So Rocky has hardly any coat at all - though it is starting to grow back in.

Because Rocky comes from a home where the quality of his life, his food, his hygiene, and overall medical attention was extremely bad, he needs a home that will pamper him and make sure he gets the thyroid medication he needs, the thyroid blood work (he will need at least annually to make sure his supplementation is accurate), the glucosamine supplements for his joints, vitamins, and all the things we do to keep our seniors as comfortable, healthy, and long-lived as possible. Rocky's forever home should help him to continue on his road back to optimal healh with very high quality foods in two measured meals each day.

Since coming to Sheltie Rescue of Utah Rocky has been neutered, has had a thorough dental with x-rays, and has had his gall bladder removed because he suffered from a gall bladder mucocele - a thickening of sludge in the gall bladder that can be fatal.  Rocky has bounced back from these medical procedures beautifully and is an energetic, happy, cuddly Sheltie boy ready for a truly supportive and loving forever home.

If you are interested in adopting Rocky please go to http://SheltieRescueUT.org and register and fill out our Application for Adoption.  You can always reach us by phone at 801-942-4762.  Rocky's adoption fee will be $200.00 - a pittance for the joy, love, and companionship he will bring into your life.
