Karma is one of the sweetest Shelties - she's a happy girl who starts to do her little happy dance the moment you start talking to her in a soft voice or with baby talk (which so many dogs just LOVE). Karma is petite although she arrived as a little overweight pudge. She is losing weight and must continue to do so until she's at a healthy weight for her petite size. About 18lbs is about right for her and will make a huge difference in the quality of her life because we've seen a limp in one of her front legs. It may be arthritis or it may be an old injury. Either way, at a lower weight it will have less of an impact on the quality of her life going forward. Because she already has this limp (which comes and goes) stairs to the backyard or even up to the bedroom are not an ideal living situation for Karma.
Karma was picked up as a stray and surprisingly nobody claimed her. The surprise is that it was obvious that she was used to living in a home and being with people. She adores being close to you. However, she was very poorly cared for. She arrived overweight and her coat is in very poor condition probably from a poor diet. Karma needs a Mom/Dad that understands the importance of good nutrition and good hygiene care as well as veterinary care to help her rebound.
