SPECAL LOVING MOM OR DAD NEEDED!

Heidi is a very loving and playful Sheltie girl who we estimate to be about 7 years of age.  Heidi will play with toys by herself and she will play with other dogs once a relationship is established.  Heidi is somewhat submissive in that if another dog is unhappy having her close to them she will turn and move away from them.  But she will also try to coax other dogs to play with her.  She has a very playful and sweet personality.  Heidi does alert very readily to noises that she's not familiar with or to someone at the front door.  Heidi occassionally talks to a dog barking on the TV as well.  Heidi is an over-sized Sheltie weighing in at 40lbs.  She should probably lose about 2lbs especially given that she has deformities in her rear legs/feet.

Heidi's hind legs are deformed which is why she needs a special Mom or Dad.  Check out the photos to see this deformity which causes her to use more than just her foot to walk on the floor.  Heidi is able to walk up and down carpeted stairs but this is painful for her.  She is not a Sheltie who can take long walks or go on hikes. Even a short walk might be painful.  Heidi would probably do best in a home with just one single level and a very easy exit to the backyard (no long stairs down to the backyard for this girl).

Unlike many dogs, Heidi has a preference for men and in her foster home, prefers to hang out with my husband but loves both her foster Mom and Dad.  Heidi is a very good and obedient girl, loves to lay next to wherever you are - on the couch or in bed - and waits until you are ready to move on to whatever is next.  Heidi is a wonderful companion for anyone who could use a loyal and loving forever, furry friend.

If you'd like more information about Heidi please fill out our Application for Adoption at http://SheltieRescueUT.org or call us at 801-942-4762.  The adoption fee for all the love and fun Heidi will bring into your life is $175.00
