My Details:
I am a 6 1/2 year old spayed female.  They call me a sable/white with white factors.  I am now up to date on all my shots.

A Bit of History:
I was surrendered by my original owners family to the Sieve County Animal Control Center.  The family's story was that my owner was no longer able to take care of herself and was being moved into the family's home.  But, I wasn't able to stay for the younger members were supposedly  allergic to me.  I was then turned over to Sheltie Rescue of Utah to help me find a new home.

Since I arrived in Sheltie Rescue of Utah's care:
On, March 21st, 2013; I entered into the care of my foster parents and this is the start of my true story.  My life had been turned upside down and I was a shy, confused, stubborn, untrusting, angry sheltie; but my foster parents just saw me as a beautiful sweet sheltie with a few issues.

*  Over weight at 38 pounds on a body frame that should only be about 28 pounds.  I wanted people food not dog food.

*Wanting to do things my way only.  It was my way or the highway.

*I was potty trained; but needed someone with me while I went outside.  If no one with me, I didn't go.

*I have always LOVED to go for car rides and walks.

My learning and training started to correct my few issues.
First thing was to learn what dog food was and placed on a diet/exercise program.  My diet is now a well rounded low fat diet ~ raw protein with veggies and supplemental probiotics (Flora).  My exercise consist of walks and swimming.  Currently I am now weighing in at 33 pounds (May 25th)and still working hard with my diet/exercise.

My next two issue actually went together.  I didn't like to be touched or go potty for it hurt me.  We found out that I was actually a quit sick sheltie with an urinary track infection PLUS.  What do I mean by PLUS ~ with being over weight I had a fat roll that somewhat covered my units.  So, when I would urinate it would get itchy, inflamed and infected ~ I was very sensitive to touch.  My foster parents believe I have been sick for a long time and my whole body hurt; which is why I was such an angry sheltie and didn't like to be touched.  We corrected the urinary track infection with antibiotics and corrected the PLUS issue by surgically removing the inflamed, infected excess fat roll from the area.

After my surgery,
I learned that it didn't hurt any more when I went potty.  Plus, I am now getting a good night sleep; for I don't itch anymore.  I am now learning and gaining confidence that I can go potty outside by myself.  I still like to have an audience at times but it not as crucial as before.

I am still gaining trust in the matter that my back end doesn't hurt and am starting to turn my back end toward the rubs.  Asking for the hind end to be rubbed.

I still LOVE to go for car rides and walks; that I have figured out when my foster parents go out a certain door they are going in the car.  So, I actually block them to tell them, 'I WANT TO GO'.

How do I do with other animals?
*I do wonderful with other dogs.  I am learning how to be a dog from my foster brothers.  I am still learning what a toy is and how to play with them; right now I follow, sometimes run and bark with them while they play with their toys.  (check out the toys when they drop them)
*Cats:  The only time I have been around a cat is when we are at the Vet's office and the office cat that romps around.  I notice and look but don't bark or try to run after it.
*Rabbits:  I have foster rabbits that I love to sit and watch.  Sometimes I bark at them when they are teasing me by running next to the fence.  I am learning that when I do I get in trouble.

Am I a barker?
*I'm not just a barker at nothing.  When I do bark it is usually because the door bell has rang ~ learning that it is ok to let them know the door bell rang but need to quit when told.  This is a big learning step to allow new people into the house; sometimes my shyness and mistrust gets the best of me.  When my foster mom knows that their is someone coming she helps me out by putting my harness/leash on; this is helping me get the confidence that strangers aren't always bad.
*I do also bark when my foster parents return and I hear the garage door roll up.  I am loving to get the attention and love when the return.
*I do bark when I am trying to learn the game of play with my foster brothers.

My foster mom, now believes I am ready to start interviewing folks for the position as my FOREVER PEOPLE.  Do you think your the right one for me?
