This is Sheltie-girl Tikki who is just 1 1/2 years of age.  At this tender young age she's already had one litter of puppies.  Shame on whoever let that happen.  Now she's more susceptible to cancer than she would be had she been spayed before she was a year of age.  Tikki came from a home where she was poorly cared for, was very underweight due to a bad case of worms, and consequently was malnourished.  After almost two months in rescue she's at a much healthier weight for her size, 10 1/2 pounds.  She's a very small girl and will always be relatively thin as long as she's maintained at a healthy weight and not over-fed.  Overweight is as much a problem in our pets as it is, in us.  Tikki is very active.  She gets along well with other dogs, cats, and older children.  Tikki suffers from separation anxiety which she expresses by whining.  She would do best in a home where she'd have the least amount of time alone.  She bonds just as well with men as with women.  She is one of the world's best cuddlers as you'll see in the video.  The photos of her show this too.  She came from one of our best foster homes to our home and has been with us one night at this time.  We crated her in our bedroom where she could see us and she did well, sleeping through the night.  I have yet to crate her so I can go out shopping to see how she handles that for myself.  I expect her to whine and be fairly vocal.  Today, Monday, November 14th, Tikki got a senior wellness exam at Cottonwood Animal Hospital.  This includes a full blood panel, thyroid test, and urinalysis.  She also got all her vaccinations.  We had her wormed the day after we picked her up from her home and she's currently clear.  If you're interested in adopting Tikki please fill out our Application for Adoption at http://SheltieRescueUT.org.  Tikki's adoption fee will be $350.00
