As you can see from her photos Bailey is a tiny darling.  She came from a home where her human Mom passed away and there was nobodywho could provide us with any real information on Bailey.  At first we thought she might be fairly young and that her funny walk was due to her incredibly long nails.  After a week of care with us we've discovered through examining her and observing her that her teeth show that she's probably around six years old.  Her funny walk is due to at least one untreated bone break and pretty bad arthritis.  This also explains why Bailey doesn't move around very much other than to change which bed she's laying on.

Bailey's as sweet as can be.  Not only does she love to be cuddled in your arms but she wants to put her muzzle up against your face and mouth.  For a little girl she has a great appetite so watching out that she doesn't put on too much weight will be EXTREMELY important especially because of her arthritic joints.

We've had Bailey examined at the vet's and we've done a senior wellness panel on her that not only is a comprehensive blood panel but also checks thyroid levels and urine.  We learned that Bailey has a terrible urinary tract infection for which we're currently treating her.

We don't know if Bailey was ever house trained in her past but we do know that she lost that habit of going potty outside when her human Mom got very ill.  We are currently working on house training her and she's making some progress.

Bailey will need a household where she won't have to deal with stairs to go outside to go potty or to be with her people.  Bailey needs a fairly quiet home with people who will be happy to carry her around, if needed, and will take care of her.  We are giving her 1/2 of a 25mg tablet of Rimadyl which is also available now as the generic, carprofen.

If you'd like more information on adopting Bailey please call us at 801-942-4762 or go to our website http://www.SheltieRescueUT.org and register there and fill out our Application for Adoption.
