Charlie has been with Sheltie Rescue about a week.  His teeth looked so bad and he is so overweight, that we took him straight from the shelter to Cottonwood Animal Hospital to get a comprehensive blood panel and urinalysis done.  Charlie is scheduled for a dental on April 5th.

Charlie is a big bundle of love - friendly and playful with other dogs, loves people, and is good with cats.  He is a great in the house and for a Sheltie who is obese, surprisingly nimble.  I have high hopes that with weight loss he'll lead a much happier and more comfortable life.  Whoever adopts Charlie will have to make sure that they get this weight off of him with a well controlled, appropriate diet.  He is too overweight at this time for any hikes or even long walks.

The blood work shows that all his organ values are excellent.  We did an ultrasound as well.  What we saw was consistent with the blood work which shows a mild elevation in one liver enzyme, ALP. Liver shows rounding and some enlargment.  His liver value will have to be monitored on an ongoing basis just as his weight will need to be reduced and controlled.

If you're interested in Charlie please go to our website and fill out our Application for Adoption at  You can also call us with any questions at 801-231-3031.  The adoption fee for this big bundle of nonstop love is $285.00.
