Eragon is a special needs boy in that he's very shy and very frightened.  It took more than a month before he would eat his meals at meal times (breakfast and dinner) instead of overnight, in his crate, in the dark (Eragon sleeps in a crate at night and is very comfortable hanging out in his crate.) We've been working with Eragon very slowly to come out of his crate and to come to us for attention,  That has been working and he's coming along.  He tries to hang out near me wherever I am.  But he's going to need someone with a lot of heart and patience.

Recently he actually jumped up on the couch to be near me and get his muzzle scratched.  That led to more jumping on the couch to be near me - and then, actually walking up to me, outside, and standing by me until I noticed him.  Of course then I talked baby-talk (he loves that!) and scratched his muzzle and rubbed his tummy. After that he puppy bowed and ran off and came right back for more.

Eragon is not a dog that you can walk on a leash at this time - he's just too shy and timid.  With gentle guidance and persistent work, he may become a dog able to travel on a leash without being afraid.
