Sienna is thought to be about 9 years old and came to us becaues a Utah group went to a Missouri breeder's auction (which happen regularly) to save as many dogs as possible (they ended up pulling out over 100 dogs) who were identified as not good breeders and as a consequence, were likely to be euthanized.
Sienna and her daughter Jet were living in a rabbit hutch or some other tiny space when they weren't actively mating. They arrived very stressed, making never-ending circles in their run, with sores on their legs, and Sienna's teeth so bad that one was found in her bowl of water. Sienna's teeth were so bad that I gave her medication to ease her pain in order to make it possible for her to eat soft, soupy food. Her teeth were so bad that her muzzle was terribly infected and swollen. We had her at the vet the day after we got her. Our vet took one look at her mouth and cleared surgery time to do her dental that day.
Sienna is not yet spayed because we wanted to give her and her daughter, Jet, time to settle in and get used to their brand new life in a house. They have a lot to learn! They have a room to themselves with a baby gate out onto the world. Although at first we kept the baby gate closed to give them security --- it's now open so they can come and go as they please. Sienna is the braver girl of the two, venturing out first to hang out with the rest of us when we watch TV or make dinner.
Sienna's recovery from that dental took some time. She's only just finished up her antibiotics from it.
The adoption fee for Sienna is $75.00 but she'll only go to a very special home who'll love, nurture, and cherish her for the rest of her life.
