Lucy was found in a shelter in Billings, MT.  We happened to have an adopter from nearby in Montana coming into town to adopt a Collie from Sheltie Rescue of Utah.  So we arranged to have our potential adopter pick up Lucy and bring her to us.  Lucy has such a friendly, easy-going personality, and is so well behaved, despite her youth, that this adopter almost changed her mind and adopted Lucy.  Her parents almost adopted her too!  Now Lucy is not without her naughty habits but, Lucy is so willing to please you and be a good girl, that her naughty habits should be easy to help her unlearn.  Lucy does have a bad habit of jumping up on people and she does do a lot of kissing, some of which may be due to some anxiety over not being sure what she should be doing that will make you want to smile at her and hug her.  We are working on reducing these minor issues but you will need to continue working on this with her, gently.

We don't know Lucy's age.  Watching her for several weeks while she's been with us I'd estimate her to be between 1 1/2 and 2 years of age.  Lucy is very well housetrained.  But we always remind our adopters that until a dog is familiar with your schedule they may have an accident.  In our rescue, Lucy is sleeping in our bedroom, eating Blue Buffalo, Natural Balance, and Taste of the Wild dog food brands.  Lucy still show some puppy behaviors.  From time to time, not very often, I'll catch her starting to chew on furniture.  A gentle sound letting her know that she should stop what she's doing and re-directing her to an appropriate toy or chew, and she gets the lesson.  She's such a great girl!

Lucy was represented to us as a full tri-color Sheltie.  Tri-color Shelties are mostly black with sable and white on the face and little bits of it in other places.  As we watch her we found ourselves going back and forth between whether or not she's a full Sheltie or a mix with, possibly, a Border Collie, Lucy will move her body in ways that are reminiscent of the way a Border Collie moves.  Whatever her breeding, whoever adopts Lucy and cuddles with her in bed at night, will be a very lucky adopter and will have a phenomenally loving and loyal companion for life.

Lucy can and does jump any of the baby gates we have in the house.  She jumps them VERY easily and could jump a short fence very easily. Actually, she'd be an incredible agility dog.  I can easily see her whipping around the agility course with an adopter with the interest and commitment to work on this with her.  I think Lucy would pick up the agility course skills faster than the person who adopts her!

Lucy plays beautifully with another female here who is about half her age.  Lucy's favorite place to be is by my side.  Whoever is her person or people, they mean more to Lucy than anything else.

Video of Lucy should be available soon.  For more information or if you're interested in adopting Lucy please go to http://SheltieRescueUT.org and register and fill out our Application for Adoption.  Feel free to call us with questions at 801-942-4762.  Lucy's adoption fee is $300.00 but her love and loyalty are priceless.
