Gracie is an easy girl to love and an easy girl to care for.  She's reported to be about four years of age.  Her temperament is wonderful.  She's so sweet that little children could take advantage of her gentleness and we wouldn't want to see that happen.  She's very interested in and attentive to her people and wants nothing more than to have a loving companion in her life.

Gracie gets along well with other dogs, is not pushy, and is good with our cat.  She has a very expressive face.  She also has quite a thick Sheltie coat with a big white collar.  We're told that Gracie enjoys being brushed...which is a good thing because without brushing her coat could get very matted.

Gracie is overweight.  In fact there may be one and a half Gracie's there...so she needs to lose a significant amount of weight in order to protect her health and help her to have a nice long Sheltie-life.  Her adopter will have to be commited to helping her lose the excess weight.  We are starting her on a healthy weight loss diet.

It looks as though her lower jaw is undershot making the teeth in her lower jaw stick out.  This may require some care in the future.  Certainly the annual dentals that all dogs should get would be especially important for Gracie to keep her teeth and gums healthy and to monitor the general health of her mouth.

Gracie is reported to go potty as "trained" outdoors and then come back indoors and go potty again as though she doesn't understand that this behavior is only for outside.  She may need a veterinary work up to check for a medical problem triggering this behavior.  In the meantime we're working on basic house training for her first week here to see if there's just some confusion that we can quickly eliminate.

If you're interested in adopting Gracie please fill out the Application for Adoption at www.SheltieRescueUT2.org.  You can also call us at 801-942-4762.  The adoption fee for Gracie is $275.00.

Special Needs: Gracie needs to lose a significant amount of weight to be at a healthy weight. She may need to lose as much as 10 lbs. Her adopters will have to help her achieve this without over doing it and without being overly indulgent.
